Revamping Coconut Grove’s Waterfront

MapImagepP44LDz3f3TBQL-640mThe City of Miami is looking to revamp its Coconut Grove waterfront by city hall, ending long-standing(1976) relationships with Grove Key Marina, Scotty’s Landing and Chart House restaurant, which combined paid the city last year just over $600,000 rent.  The city recently issued two requests for proposals for the city-owned properties, one for 3385 Pan American Drive for use as a marina/boatyard and an outdoor restaurant, which currently houses the marina and Scotty’s Landing, and another for 51 Charthouse Drive, where the Chart House restaurant sits.

Winning proposals on the approximate 5 acre property will have to renovate, lease, and operate the sites.  The city is seeking to improve the revenue capacity of the marina/boat yard facility and calls for a tenant that will transform the property into a state-of-the-art complex. The deadline for proposals are due by June 15th.  The maximum initial term lease is 40 years, with two options to renew for five years.

Name that Architectural Style and Detail!

From RealtorMag.Realtor.org this informative guide will help you identify an architectural style you prefer so you can better communicate it to your realtor.  Take a look to match your current home or find a new style:
Residential Styles | Structural Elements

Victorian

Victorian architecture dates from the second half of the 19th century, when America was exploring new approaches to building and design.

Advancements in machine technology meant that Victorian-era builders could easily incorporate mass-produced ornamentation such as brackets, spindles, and patterned shingles. The last true Victorians were constructed in the early 1900s, but contemporary builders often borrow Victorian ideas, designing eclectic “neo-Victorians.” These homes combine modern materials with 19th century details, such as curved towers and spindled porches. A number of Victorian styles are recreated on the fanciful “Main Street” at Disney theme parks in Florida, California, and Europe.
