Brickell/Biscayne free Trolley Starts Service

imagesStarting at 6:30 a.m. Friday, May 5th,  the city of Miami will launch its free downtown rubber-tire trolley system that officials hope will persuade people to “ditch the car and hitch a ride’’ for short jaunts to work, play, eat and shop.
The orange-and-green, retro-style trolleys will run every 15 minutes and take passengers on Biscayne Boulevard south from the Omni district, across the Miami River to the end of the Brickell financial and residential district, with marked stops at every block.  The air-conditioned trolleys will run 6:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. every day but Sunday. Special runs will be added for Sunday Miami Heat playoff games. The trolleys will also make three loops: one around Mary Brickell Village, another out to Brickell Key, and a third past Margaret Pace Park just north of the old Omni complex.
Because the trolley will also stop at or near Metromover and bus stations, the Downtown Development Authority says, it will give downtown Miami a densely interconnected transit system unrivaled by any other city in Florida. Is the Recession Over??

hg

Too early to call it! According to an article published in The New York Times, a committee of economists formed in 1978 are erring on the side of caution when it comes to declaring an end to this recession. This committee has designated start and end dates of economic contractions for every business cycle since 1854. The article is quoted as saying: “this time, the committee members say, the evidence is not so easy to decipher.” One committee member, Mr. Frankel an economist at the Harvard Kennedy School, posted a blog last week saying “The recession is over.” Robert E. Hall of Standford made the statement “The odds favor the view that a true expansion has begun and that the recession beginning in 2007 is over.” He also said, “one cannot totally rule out the unlikely possibility that the economy might resume contraction again soon.” This idea was supported by Martin S. Feldstein of Harvard. In January he warned of a double-dip recession and said “there is a significant risk the economy could run out of steam sometime in 2010.” To see the full article CLICK HEREThe New York Times

From the real estate perspective here in Miami-Dade County, there have been 2,259 closed sales this year which equates to $762,949,762 in sales. There are another 4,402 pending sales equal to $1,161,317,469. These are the numbers for one county in all of the United States. On a personal level, I am seeing prices drop to a level where consumers are finally comfortable to buy and more buyers that are “on the fence” are making their move. I think the real estate sector for the first quarter of the year has made an aggressive start, and so far the second quarter is looking  just as forceful!

Miami Night Life: South Beach

So your looking for something different and fun to do this weekend. Well lets start out the night at Segafredos located at 1040 Lincon Road. The tables are mostly outside but the weather was great so it made the night more enjoyable. This is a great place to just have a drink and catch up with friends or to get ready for the next stop of the night…and that for me was club Mynt located at 1921 Collins avenue. We had a great time there with all of our friends. I recommend reserving a table and bottles if your going with a group of people, but make sure you’re ready for the prices that go along with it..lets just say it is not unusual for a bill to be over $1000.00.. but it is possible to keep it below that. So I am sure you want to know how the traffic was..well we drive over to South Beach all the time from Coral Gables and it is not terrible but that’s not to say that we haven’t had our share of traffic problems. In the end the traffic is worth it. Look for my weekly Miami Night Life posts every week on Tuesdays.
